U4N Path of Exile 2: Best Tips to Complete Ancient Vows
The Ancient Vows quest in Act 2 of Path of Exile 2 can be confusing because the required relics drop from different areas, and the altar is not placed in a fixed location. If you are trying to complete the “Find a use for the relics” objective, you will need both relic pieces before you can finish the task and claim your reward. Having enough POE2 Currency can help with general progression, but this particular quest mainly requires exploration and patience.
Gather the Two Clan Relics
The first step is to obtain both halves of the Ancient Vows relic. Each piece comes from a different type of enemy in Act 2, so finding one does not automatically give you the other.
The Kabala Clan Relic, also called the Left Half, can randomly drop from snake-like Nagi enemies in Keth. If you have already cleared the area without finding it, continue defeating Nagi enemies until the relic appears.
The Sun Clan Relic, known as the Right Half, comes from hyena-type enemies in The Bone Pits. You can reach The Bone Pits through the Mastodon Badlands. The drop is random, so you may need to defeat several enemies before receiving the item.
Head to the Valley of the Titans
Once you have both relic pieces, make your way to the Valley of the Titans. This is where the Ancient Vows altar is located.
The altar can be easy to overlook because its position changes depending on the randomly generated layout of your map. Rather than searching for one exact coordinate, explore the outer sections and edges of the Valley of the Titans.
Look for a large stone staircase. A huge statue stands above the structure, making it one of the more recognizable landmarks in the zone. Once you find this structure, climb the stairs to reach the altar.
Put Both Relics on the Altar
At the top of the staircase, you should see a medallion-style pedestal. This is the altar required for the quest objective.
Open your inventory and locate both relic halves. On a keyboard, hold the Alt key to make the relevant interaction slot easier to identify. Controller players can hold the left joystick to highlight the slot.
Drag the Kabala Clan Relic and Sun Clan Relic from your inventory onto the altar interface. Make sure both pieces are placed there. The game will then recognize the relics and advance the quest.
Pick the Permanent Character Bonus
After the two relics have been placed correctly, you will be given a choice between two permanent bonuses. Your selection cannot be treated like a temporary item effect, so consider how your character normally handles resources before making the decision.
The first option provides 30% increased Charm Charges gained. This can be useful for characters that rely heavily on charms and want to improve how frequently those effects are available.
The second option grants 15% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks. Builds that frequently spend mana and depend on flask recovery may find this option more useful during combat.
Finish Ancient Vows Efficiently
There is no single universally correct choice between the two rewards. The better bonus depends on your build, equipment, and resource management. Characters that make strong use of charms may prefer the increased Charm Charges, while mana-hungry builds can benefit from improved flask recovery.
After choosing your preferred reward, the “Find a use for the relics” stage of Ancient Vows is complete. The key is simply to collect both relic halves, locate the statue and staircase in the Valley of the Titans, and place the items on the altar.
Complete the Quest and Continue Your Journey
Ancient Vows is much easier once you know that the two relics come from separate enemy groups and that the altar's position changes with the map layout. Take your time searching Keth and The Bone Pits if either item has not dropped yet, then explore the Valley of the Titans for the large statue structure. Once the choice is made, you can move on with your Act 2 progression and continue collecting POE 2 Exalted Orbs as you advance through Path of Exile 2.
