Pokemon TCG Pocket U4GM Guide to Palkia ex Decks

Palkia ex is an exciting choice for players who enjoy Water-based decks and high-damage finishing moves in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Among the many Pokemon TCG Pocket Cards available to collectors and deck builders, Palkia ex is notable for the way its game plan develops over several turns. Its low-cost Slash attack provides early utility, while Dimensional Storm can completely swing the game once enough Energy has been prepared.

Palkia ex Is More Than a Late-Game Attacker

One common mistake is treating Palkia ex as a Pokémon that should remain inactive until four Energy are available. In reality, Slash gives it something meaningful to do during the early stages of a match.

For one Water Energy, Slash deals 30 damage. This is not a huge number, but early damage can matter later. It can also force an opponent to respond before their preferred strategy is fully established.

The key is to recognize that Palkia ex has two different roles. Early in the game, it can apply pressure. Later, it becomes a major threat through Dimensional Storm.

The Real Challenge Is Energy

Dimensional Storm requires four Energy and includes a significant drawback. After using the attack, Palkia ex discards three Water Energy. As a result, players cannot simply attack with it repeatedly without a plan for rebuilding Energy.

This makes Energy support particularly important.

Water-oriented cards such as Manaphy and Vaporeon can help create a more flexible Energy setup. Rather than depending entirely on normal Energy attachments, these supporting Pokémon can contribute to a strategy that prepares multiple attackers.

Misty is another card that can potentially accelerate the deck, but its random nature means it should not be treated as a guaranteed source of Energy.

Keep Another Attacker Ready

A strong Palkia ex deck should always consider what happens after Palkia is knocked out. Putting too many resources into one Pokémon can make the deck vulnerable.

Starmie ex can serve as a useful alternative attacker in some Water lists. Chien-Pao ex is another option, particularly for players interested in combining Palkia ex with a more extensive Water package. Baxcalibur can further support this style by helping the deck manage large Energy requirements.

The secondary attacker does not have to perform exactly the same role as Palkia. Its main purpose is to make sure your opponent cannot win simply by removing your main threat.

Trainers Make the Strategy More Reliable

Good Pokémon choices can still fail if the deck cannot find them consistently. This is why Trainer selection should be treated as an important part of the build.

Poké Ball can improve access to Pokémon, while Professor’s Research provides additional opportunities to find cards when your hand is not developing properly. Sabrina can disrupt the opponent by changing their Active Pokémon, and Cyrus may become valuable when damaged Pokémon are available on the Bench.

Giant Cape can also be considered when keeping a key Pokémon alive for another turn is important.

Testing remains essential because the best Trainer configuration can vary depending on the current environment.

When Should You Use Dimensional Storm?

The Energy discard attached to Dimensional Storm means every use should have a purpose. Before attacking, consider what you gain from the 150 damage and the additional Bench damage.

For example, if the opponent's Active Pokémon is a major threat and several Benched Pokémon can also be weakened, the attack may provide enough value to justify the Energy loss.

On the other hand, using Storm against a low-priority target can leave Palkia ex struggling to attack again. Players should therefore think several turns ahead rather than focusing only on the current knockout.

Improving the Overall Deck

The best Palkia ex builds balance power with consistency. Rather than adding every Water attacker available, focus on cards that help establish Energy, maintain a strong hand, and provide backup options.

Start with Slash when necessary, build toward Dimensional Storm, and avoid spending all your resources before the opponent gives you a worthwhile target. Keep a second attacker prepared so that the deck remains functional if Palkia ex is removed.

With carefully selected Pokemon TCG Pocket Cards, this strategy can offer both explosive damage and useful flexibility. If certain cards are missing from your collection, you can also Pokemon TCG Pocket Cards for sale to finish the deck and test alternative builds.
