The expansion of high-frequency wireless communication is also creating opportunities for phase-shifting technologies. Modern 5G and emerging 6G systems use beamforming and advanced antenna architectures to improve coverage and manage signals at higher frequencies. Phase shifters enable controlled phase relationships between antenna elements, supporting directional transmission and reception. Research into SIW phase shifters has demonstrated continuously tunable phase control at millimeter-wave frequencies, showing how waveguide-inspired technologies can be adapted for compact high-frequency systems.
